Five Green & Speckled Frogs

A language extension appropriate for the Toddlers on up, any child who likes to sing and count! Below are the lyrics to the popular Raffi song. I bought the frogs at ACMOORE and sewed the pool and log from felt and fabric I had. The kiddos LOVE this work, it is chosen every day.

Five Green & Speckled Frogs
(Hold five fingers (frogs) on top of your other arm (log)
Sat on a bumpy log
Eating the most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool (jump a finger off the log into the pool)
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are Four green speckled frogs (Hold up four fingers)
(Fold arms and say in a deep voice:) Glug, Glug

Four Green & Speckled Frogs
Sat on a bumpy log
Eating the most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are Three green speckled frogs
(Fold arms and say in a deep voice:) Glug, Glug

Three Green & Speckled frogs
Sat on a bumpy log
Eating the most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are Two green speckled frogs
(Fold arms and say in a deep voice:) Glug, Glug

Two Green & speckled frogs
Sat on a bumpy log
Eating the most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there is one green speckled frog
(Fold arms and say in a deep voice:) Glug, Glug

One Green & speckled frog
Sat on a bumpy log
Eating the most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
It jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there is no more speckled frogs
(Fold arms and say in a deep voice:) Glug, Glug

cause you're a miracle, uh huh
a little a miracle, oh yeah
cause you're a miracle, uh huh
a little miracle, oh yeah

are you a fish
are you a fly
are you a hummingbird buzzin on by

are you the beach
are you the sand
are you the wave that washes up upon the land

everything is possible
cause you're a miracle
everything is possible
when you're around
cause you're a miracle, uh huh
a little a miracle, oh yeah
cause you're a miracle, uh huh
a little miracle, oh yeah

do do do's

are you a seed
are you a tree
you can be anything you want to be

cause you know it's possible

everything is possible
when you're around
cause you're a miracle, uh huh
a little a miracle, oh yeah
cause you're a miracle, uh huh
a little miracle, oh yeah
cause you're a miracle, uh huh
a little a miracle, oh yeah
cause you're a miracle, uh huh
a little miracle, oh yeah

do do do's

Isn't that lovely? I'm going to teach it to my toddler class.
Last night was our parent night at the new location. Montessori Papa did a wonderful job, I was very proud. Everyone did a wonderful job! . It was exciting and encouraging to know that so many families are choosing this educational path for their children.
It's going to be a truly amazing year!

Every Child

Dr. Tze of the Global Child Health Society" asked Raffi to write a song for the health of the world's children qand Raffi responded with this song:

Every child, every child, is a child of the universe
Here to sing, here to sing, a song of beauty and grace
Here to love, here to love, like a flower out to bloom
Every boy and girl a blessing and a joy

Every child, every child, of man and woman born
Fed with love, fed with love, in the milk that's mother's own
A healthy child, healthy child, as the dance of life unfolds
Every child in the family, safe and warm

Dreams of children free to fly
Free of hunger, and war
Clean flowing water and air to share
With dolphins and elephants and whales all around

Every child, every child, dreams of peace in this world
Wants a home, wants a home, and a gentle hand to hold
To provide, to provide, room to grow and to belong
In the loving village of human kindness

~From the album: Raffi Radio 1995

Don't you just adore that? I love it. I don't much care for the rest of the album but highly recommend this particular song.

Little One Turns Two

TWO!
It's been two years since we met and even though I didn't think it was possible, I love you more today than I did that first day.

We all smile and laugh more now that you are here. Thank you 'Not So Little One' for keeping life interesting and your Mama on her toes!

Birthday songs:
"On the day that _____ was born, the flowers bloomed and the unicorn danced and sang the whole day long, on the day that _______ was born."
~
"We wish you a happy birthday, a joyous and celebrated birthday, to our dear child may you have a happy life."

Art & Play: Snowman song

Hi All,
Here is the Snowman song I sung with my Art & Play class at Waterfall Arts today:
[sung to the tune of "I'm a Little Tea Pot"]

I'm a Little Snowman:

I'm a Little snowman short and fat,
Here are my buttons, here is my hat!
When the sun comes out, I cannot play.
I just slowly melt away!
Splat~
(the "Splat" is optional)

I thought I would pass the words along for those of you who want to sing it with your kiddos. Today's Art & Play activity: Tissue paper stained glass votives can be found at this terrific BLOG page: Bella Dia (festive fairy lights)
Remember to have fun and enjoy your time with your children. (The "Splat " part is especially fun, fall to the ground and lay flat like a big puddle of melted snow.)

Lesson plan: Earth Air Fire Water

A song activity

Material list:

Rug, basket with purple lining, rolled white felt

4 laminated cards that read: Earth, Wind, Fire and Water

3 felt arrows

a rock, a pinecone, a feather, a bird, a cardboard sun, a candle, a bottle of water, a sea shell.

The words to the song written out and laminated.

Presentation:

"Watch carefully where I go to get this lesson. Ah, here it is…one of the stories about living in connection with our planet"

Unroll white felt and smooth across the rug. Next find the 4 cards in the basket

and name them as you place them in the four corners of the white felt.

Earth, air, fire, and water.

Those words are from a song…do you know a song that begins with Earth, Air, fire and water?

Hum the tune to give them a clue. Once the children recognize the song then ask different children to help you place the items as you sing the song.

Let’s sing the song together.

Could you put something that represents ‘water’ in this corner when we sing “water”?

And could you put an item that represents ‘fire’ in this corner when we sing “fire”?

Etc.

Sing the song once through before laying objects. Once you are

Ready, sing the song a second time and add items as you sing

Where in the World?
