Maria Mouse
Many readers have been asking about my book Maria Mouse in the Children's House. I would like to thank you for your enthusiasm and support for this little story book of mine. I am hopeful it one day soon will be published and I can share that news with all of you but as of yet it hasn't been picked up by a publishing house. And so I wait....
I have been thinking about self publishing but know very little about this process. I will keep you all posted and welcome your comments and feedback about my illustrations and and suggestions about book publishing.
The children I have shared my Maria Mouse stories with have enjoyed them and I feel confident that many more children would too. I hope it happens...(I'm trying to be optimistic).
In PEACE
~~MM

OH yes, self publish! That may get the ball rolling for you:-)
I already love it just from the picture of glee on her face when she finds the shell. :-) I don't know anything about publishing, but you could probably look up the publishers of books that you really love for your own children (behind the title page). I bet there are also a lot of blogs devoted to the subject. www.blogpulse.com has a search engine just for blogs. You can ALSO try checking to see if your town has a SCORE chapter (Service Corps of Retired Executives)--they volunteer to help folks get started. I posted something about them a couple of weeks ago, and they are also online. Please publish this book--it's adorable. :-) Julie

I love your illustrations, and I do hope I see Maria Mouse on the shelf at the bookstore one day! She's adorable.
well, it looks simply beautiful.
best of look to you.
I stumbled across some advice re: publishing books. There is a book by Michael Larsen, How to Write a Book Proposal, but it sounds like it is geared toward non-fiction. Try googling "writing a children's book proposal" or something to that effect. Go through your kids' books and make a list of potential publishers, putting your top choices at the beginning. You can check their websites and get a feel for the tone of each company. Another good tip was to have 3 more ideas for books in your proposal. (Publish Your Patterns, Nancy Restuccia)
thank you for letting us peek into Maria Mouse's world!
It is easy to self publish using lulu.com, you need to put your book into PDF format but the whole process is fairly painless. Lulu do not promote the book for you though, you are on your own there, there are a number of message boards etc which can help you. I put a book on lulu as an ebook (with the intention of sending it off to a real publisher eventually) somehow I have had a number of sale yet I have done nothing at all to promote it and it is a very specialised type of book. I WILL get round to re-editing it and sending it off to a publisher one day. Anyway it it worth looking at, good luck!
